Hello

I'm Mackenzie Wrench, LCSWA, founder of Restoring Waves. I'm passionate about walking alongside individuals as they navigate the waves of life - whether calm or stormy.

With a foundation in evidence-based and trauma-informed therapy, I create a compassionate, safe space where clients feel empowered to explore, heal, and grow. I work with ages 14+ and their families and have a passion for working with eating disorders, body dysmorphia, self-harm, addictions, anxiety, depression, OCD, and ADHD. My expertise also extends to the LGBTQ+ support and polyamorous communities. I believe therapy should be a collaborative, respectful process tailored to your unique journey.

I bring a calm, grounded presence to our sessions, along with a brief that change is always possible, even when it feels distant. My approach is relational, strengths-based, and rooted in the understanding that healing doesn't't mean fixing - it means coming home to yourself.

Whether you're taking your first step toward therapy or returning after time away, I'm honored to walk this path with you.

My Story

I graduated from East Carolina University (Go Pirates!!) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health – Pre Med. I then earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Walden University in Minneapolis, MA with a certification in Addictions. I have worked with clients experiencing substance and alcohol abuse as well as spent countless hours in research, training, and counseling clients of all ages with eating disorders. I also have training and am certified in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and animal assisted therapy.

In my free time I enjoy being outdoors, cheering on the Pirates, spending time with friends and family, and baking.
