Eating Disorder Therapy

Eating disorders are never just about food - they're about pain, control, identity, and often, the quiet desire to be seen, heard, and enough. At Restoring Waves, we understand how complex and deeply personal these struggles are. We offer a safe, nonjudgemental space to beginn the journey towards healing - physically, emotionally, and relationally.

Whether you're dealing with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, orthorexia, ARFID, or an unhealthy relationship with food or your body that doesn't fit a specific label, you are welcome here.

What Therapy Offers

Our approach is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and connection. We help you explore the underlying thoughts, emotions, and experiences that shape your relationship with food, body image, and control - without pressure or shame.

We walk beside you as you:

  • Uncover the emotional roots of disordered eating

  • Rebuild trust with your body and yourself

  • Explore identity, perfectionism, trauma, or relational wounds

  • Develop more flexible, sustainable coping strategies

  • Challenge harmful beliefs around food, weight, and worth

  • Move toward self-acceptance and a sense of peace

Our Approach

We use evidence-based, trauma-informed methods, drawing from approaches like:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Intuitive Eating & Health at Every Size (HAES)-aligned practices

  • Somatic awareness and mindfulness

  • Relational and Narrative therapy

You don't have to "hit rock bottom" to deserve support. Whether you're just beginning to recognize a struggle or have been battling for years. Healing is possible - one gentle wave at a time.

Collaborative Care: A Team - Based Approach

At Restoring Waves, we believe in surrounding our clients with a circle of care. Eating disorder recovery is most effective when supported by a team, and we work closely with:

  • Registered Dietitians specializing in eating disorders and intuitive eating.

  • Primary Care Physicians and psychiatrists to monitor physical and mental health

  • Family Members or caregivers, when appropriate, to support healing at home

  • Treatment programs for higher levels of care if additional support is needed

We collaborate with your existing providers or help you build a trusted team from the ground up. Our role is to help you find safety and stability in your recovery, while ensuring that all parts of you - mind, body, and spirit - are supported.

A Safe Space for All

We welcome people of all ages, genders, body sizes, and backgrounds. You are not too "sick", too "well", or too "complicated" for therapy. You are human - and your story matters here.
